What is CCLASP

CCLASP is an Edinburgh based children's charity, set up in 1994 to help support children and groups of families, to express and share the feelings, anxieties and the horror of having a child with a life threatening illness.

The charity was established by Valerie and Bill Simpson, after their 6 year old son Robert was diagnosed with adult Leukaemia. The very stressful 10 months of Robert’s gruelling treatment of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and finally a bone marrow transplant devastated the whole family, and so they decided to use their experience to support the newly diagnosed families and set up a comprehensive support group.

Your support

All your kind donations help fund activities, toys, games and events for children who are going through the most difficult times of their lives.

We have spent many years building up relationships with other like-minded charities so we can access the much needed help for sick children and their families, whether it be transport to the hospital, holidays or a special wish from a child - we will be there for all of them. Every day is a privilege...

CCLASP receives single and monthly donations through the secure online payment system JustGiving.   Click here to donate directly to CCLASP via Dayna's personal JustGiving page.

Dayna's personal story with CCLASP

In the early days, when we did not know or even care what day of the week it was, what time it was or where we were, CCLASP were there to take us across Edinburgh city from Sick Kids Hospital to the Generel Hospital where Dayna received her radiotherapy.  CCLASP took us, waited for us and took us back to our ‘clic sargent’ home.  This took immense pressure off us until we sorted our heads out and managed to do it ourselves.  No-one knows how these small things mean so much to a family when they have had their life soul ripped out of them, unless you have been there.  Bill and Valerie thank you.
